Handwoven & Embroidered Cotton Bag made by women artisans.
The indigo bag with multi-colour embroidery is inspired by the “Climate Stripes” created by Professor Ed Hawkins. The entire bag is made of cotton and brass trims sourced from YKK. This bag has been co- created by TAMAYO X MAUNA DHWANI FOUNDATION
Each step of creating this bag: from the hand-dyeing of the yarn to setting it on looms; weaving; dyeing, washing and tailoring is completed by the women themselves, making it a truly community-crafted product that is aimed at considerably reducing carbon footprint. All of this is done at theur various centres in Udala region of Odisha. The villages are all about 5-10kms and house the cotton farm, indigo farm, weaving, hand spinning, dyeing and stitching units.
Through the Mauna Dhwani Foundation’s initiative, these artisans have revived their ancestral skills and established sustainable livelihoods.
